2 Popular Cardboard Cutouts - Life Size & Face Cutouts

Cutouts are fast gaining prominence. We accept that an year back we were doubtful on acceptance of this product. We introduced it to our product kitty without much expectations. As they say when you have least of expectations, more often than not it beats all expectations. Cut outs are used these days for birthday party, get together, brand promotions, even as a sales unit in the modern retail outlets. You can see them used as a store unit for sales, free sample kit distribution or just product displays by various prominent FMCG companies.

In developed economies like US, UK etc they have been in and around in the market from quite some time. The cut out displays can be broadly classified in 2 principle usage. First being for birthday events, parties etc which is just for 1-2 days and corporate displays which last for months if not years. Birthday, events, parties may not have elaborate design as purpose is quite straight forward. It involves cut out of famous cartoon characters, personalities from bollywood, sports stars etc. You can have your own picture, family etc as well.

Materials for cutout stands

Most cutout stands which you would see are made up of 4 materials:-

Cardboard - card board cut out stand are not the same card board which you use as book cover. These are thick card board stand which have high tensile strength. These can used against tough weather conditions as well. As they require elaborate process and involve die cutting, there is always minimum order quantity involved. Economically it make more sense to go with higher quantity to bring the unit cost down.

Sunboard - sunboard is not as expensive as the card board if your requirement is for lesser quantity. Sunboard comes in 3mm, 5mm and 8 mm thickness. Sunboard can be gloss or matt laminated for textured finish.

Foamboard - foam board is also similar to the sunboard but it is not as crisp as sunboard and cost is lesser than sunboard.

APC board - APC board used in the flex light board can also be used. We require iron stand for all these stands. Cardboard stand though can be self standing as well with design made in such a way.

Face cut out sticks or face cut out standee

We print both face cut out sticks and standees. This is different from roll up standees. Sticks are quite strong, these are printed on thick cardboard. Thickness of cardboard starts from 5 mm and can go upto 25 mm i.e. 2.5 cm (which is very thick material), higher the thickness, higher will be the cost. Also there is option to use sunboard which comes in 3mm, 5 mm and 8mm thickness. Face cut out sticks are available in different sizes like A4 size human face size and up to 3 feet in size (bigger size is used as a grand display).

Face cut standee on the other hand are used for taking pictures and photos. These can also be used in the photo panel booth. You can make face cut out stand of either one of your family member or your loved one heroes who they admire. You can also see brand these days offer special schemes and rates, if you get your photo snapped and shared on their facebook wall. They are equally used for both personal and corporate requirements.

Cut out shapes

Irrespective of the material of cutouts we can get them cut into any custom shapes. You can get these cut out designed in any shape it may be a face cutout or product cut out shapes like shampoo bottles. You can even see Colgate Palmolive (CP) using the cut out display for tooth models. Also bike companies uses them for promotion.

For retail quantity like 1 pcs only, these are printed normally on sunboard and cut with hand. Cutting is not 100% as smooth as machine cut but machine cutting will not make sense for lesser quantity as cost will be too high.

Life size cutouts

Many event companies purchases them of famous cartoon characters like Disney, Chotta Bheem, Angry Birds. These can be either directly purchased or you can get them on a 1 day rent as these won't be of any use in the future.
