File folders also known as corporate folders, dockets, simply file are mainly for corporate ordering. This is different from folder printing offered by us. Folder is mainly printed in paper with thickness ranging from 250-400 gsm art paper or ivory stock.
File folder can be of:
- Art paper
- Ivory card
- Plastic PVC sheet
- Premium Board 320 gsm
- PP (Poly Propylene) 0.3 mm thickness
These are available with all stationery shops. But what they won't give you is a branded folder with your company logo and contact details printed on them. Major companies offering them are Staples, Solo, Arihant, BILT, JK etc. You should go with branding if you have requirement in excess of 100 folders. This means if this is not for gifting purpose then ideally you should have staff size of more than 75 people to be considering ordering these. If you just want 10-15 pcs of these but want with branding, then you can go with screen printing on these folder. Screen printing prices will depend upon number of colors, type of print, coverage area, complexity etc.

File folders are available in variety of colors to choose from. Assorted colors which will be readily available in the market to choose from are white, red, blue, yellow, green, black and purple. Doctor files for patient is multi color printed with 4 color printing outside and black/white printing from inside, or no printing inside. Top tab file jackets can be seen widely these days in India, they have separate leafs for keeping individual documents. We also have 100% eco friendly paper for folders. These are heavy weight to withstand rough handling. It also comes with FSAI certified.
As far as pocket goes, you can keep either 1 pocket on left or right side. Customers also goes for 2 pockets on both left and right side. Two pockets are only recommended if you have to carry lot of documents with you. Depending upon the material these can carry anywhere between 100 to 250 pages. Robust folders to carry more than 250 pages are available as well.
There are few things that need to be taken care while getting your folder design. As this will involve punching, you should keep all important design element within 2.5 mm from left side where punching will take place. Also recommended safe area is 15 mm from either side in the artwork. Design file ideally should be in corel draw format in version x7 or lower. All colors & images used in the design should be in CMYK format only. No RGB design elements. All drop shadow, blend, contour, bevel effects etc should be break apart. Al fountain fills, monochrome, EPS, OLE objects to 300 DPI CMYK bitmap. Avoid setting the colors as overprint fill. For folder printing avoid using heavy patches.
