After telling you 7 ways to paste flex banner on the wall, its time to discuss about vinyl. Few of you may be wondering why a different website page altogether doesn't the same applies to vinyl as well. For majority who are clueless about the difference between flex and vinyl, read here comparison between flex and vinyl. Vinyl also known as SAV i.e. Self adhesive sticker is a fine material which comes with the adhesive sticker at the back and require due care at the time of installation.
We have listed below 6 ways in which you can consider pasting the vinyl sticker on the wall. There is not just 1 single solution which we recommend. All of these are effective and used as per the suitability, look and feel. They are listed in no particular order and depending upon cost may be used more or less. It is worth noting here that normal or eco vinyl can't be directly pasted on the wall. As wall is not 100% smooth and has rough paint surface which will not hold on to the adhesive for long. After few months you will notice vinyl coming out of the edges.
1. Sunboard
this is the most commonly used. It is also referred as foam board. This should not be confused with sunpack printing. Sunpack is a cheaper alternative to sunboard. We can't paste vinyl on sunpack as its surface is not plain and it will not hold on to banner for very long. Sunboard comes in various sizes and thickness. Maximum 1 dimension available is 8 ft. So for bigger size we have to use multiple boards with butt or overlap joints. Sunboard can in turn be pasted on wall with the help of mirror screws or nails. Double side tapes can also be used for smaller size board.
2. PVC Sheets
PVC sheets are again smooth without any grainy surface. We can use PVC sheets which is again available in variety of colors and sizes for pasting. You can cover the rear side of these sheets with black paper, so that there is no color reflection. PVC sheet pasting machines are limited only where as there are lots of sunboard pasting machines.
3. Acrylic
we discussed about acrylic printing few days back. Acrylic again is available in various color and size. It is a lighter material than glass. Cost is also lesser than that of glass. Best part about acrylic sheets is that they won't break. We have many options to use with acrylic like pasting, sandwitch or direct printing as well. Edge polishing is also available for smoothing.
4. Laminates
laminates will be more expensive and it is seen rarely used for pasting of vinyl. Our best guess is that they are not even used in 1% of the overall application. That's why are not discussing them in details.
5. Glass
When we say glass it is also called mirror. Glass facade are also covered here. It can be glass window, panels, separation glass in offices. These are not just stand alone glass cuts. Pasting of vinyl on glass is a meticulous exercise. We have dedicated the complete page on learn how to paste vinyl on glass. There are 2 major types of vinyls used here.
